PROJECTO: Levantamento da biodiversidade terrestre de invertebrados do ilhéu Raso / A survey of the terrestrial invertebrate biodiversity of the Raso Islet

RESUMO A nossa semana em Santa Luzia foi intensa, mas igualmente empolgante e produtiva. Conduzimos um levantamento de invertebrados por meio de amostragem com armadilhas em toda a ilha. Em particular, passamos dois dias e duas noites a acampar no norte, centro e sul da ilha e, no geral, colocamos mais de 150 armadilhas. Além disso, conduzimos sensos visuais ao explorar as diferentes regiões. É cedo para dizer o que a amostragem irá revelar e quais espécies podem ser novos registos para a ilha, mas através da identificação morfológica e metabarcoding esperamos revelar resultados novos e emocionantes. Até agora, identificamos um novo registo para a ilha, a aranha Argiope sector, encontrada numa localidade no Norte e em várias localidades no Sul. Uma breve nota já está em preparação para a Zoologia Caboverdiana. Todo este trabalho é possível graças ao Fundo SCVZ Desertas e aos membros da equipa BIOSFERA I.
SUMMARY: Our week in Santa Luzia was intense but similarly exciting and productive. We conducted an invertebrate survey through pitfall sampling throughout the island. In particular, we spent two days and two nights camping in the north, centre and south of the island and overall placed over 150 pitfalls. In addition, we conducted visual surveys while exploring the different regions. It is early to say what the sampling will reveal and what species might be new records to the island but through morphological identification and metabarcoding we hope to reveal new and exciting results. So far, we have identified a new record to the island, the orb web spider Argiope sector, found in one locality in the north and in several southern localities. A short note is already in progress for Zoologia Caboverdiana. All this work is possible thanks to the SCVZ Desertas Funds and members of the BIOSFERA I team.
